Where has this year gone? I can’t
believe how fast it is flying by. Is it the same for you? My last three months
has been busy learning the ins and outs of managing two websites
for magazines Freerider MX and Trail Bike Adventure . There’s always a lot to
get your head around when embarking on a new project, at first it feels like it
takes for ever to get anything done, but after working out the short cuts and
slip streaming the way you go about it everything starts to flow more
effortlessly as the weeks go by. I’ve been enjoying the new challenge of
updating the sites. Coming up with original material is the key as there’s so
many moto sites around now with the same info, but I must say this has been
hard with only four hours per day for both sites, and unlike print media where
the news comes out up to six weeks after the action websites have to have it up
in minutes after the event, which can be difficult at times as you can’t be
plugged into cyberspace 24/7! Who in their right mind would want to be anyways?
When I need timeout from the computer I jump on my bike and ride into the Border Ranges, which is on my doorstep, and climb some mountains – it's good therapy!
Because my focus has been on these
two sites my site has pretty much gone to sleep over this period, but hopefully
this will change now I’m getting on top of things. It’s been an awesome year so
far, and it’s only going to get better as in June, July, August I’ve been
invited to join the Red Bull X-Fighters judging team and will attend the
Moscow, Madrid, and London stops of the tour, which I’m super stoked about. I’m
sure the pressure will be high as X-Fighters is the biggest FMX competition in
the world right now and a lot of riders careers are at stake when it come to
getting good results, and as a judge you need to be bang on in calling each
riders run. I’m confident I can do a good job, and with so many Aussie riders
competing it’s good to have one judge from here to balance out the panel
somewhat. Brody Henricksen from New Zealand is also on the panel for a few
rounds so that makes two of us from Down Under. Stay tuned on how it all goes!
Shooting out at Matt "Schuie" Schubrings last week was epic!
Life is good, and between building
a house, covering stories for magazines, spending weeks on the road helping my
fiancée Andrea launch her first album, riding when I can, I still find time to
stop and be thankful for the good things that come my way. Back in Oz for over
a year now after years traveling overseas I often think to myself how lucky I
am to be living in such a great country – so much space, opportunity, freedom,
cool people, and the weather is killer, especially after living in the UK for
15-months. Below I’ve added some links of interviews, blogs, and photos from my
last few months if you have time to check them out. The latest from last week
where I joined Crusty Demons founders Jon Freeman and Dana Nicholson on a film
shoot out at Matt “Schuie” Schubrings, which was EPIC! Enjoy and I’ll be back
with more news soon!
