First Ride Back From Injury |

I’ve just had my first ride since dislocating my shoulder on the Kimberley ride and it felt good to be back on the bike. I could have ridden earlier, but with a dislocation it’s always best to strengthen the muscles around the shoulder to reduce the chances of it popping out again. I borrowed a Husky TE450 from Paul Feeney at Nerang – thanks guys – and spent the weekend at Mark Eland’s 400-acre property – Gympie way – that backs on to some of the best Forestry trails I’ve ever ridden. There’s so many hills that go up and up its crazy. Some really put you to the test as Morison Media’s I.T. guru Jake Vanderrol and buddy Dougie found out as they attempted a massive hill called Gentle Annie – which is far from being gentle at all. I’ll put together an article about the weekends riding for TBAM’s On Any Sunday section that should appear in the next issue or so. Thanks to Mark for having us at his awesome farm set-up that he brought especially for trail riding crew/friends to come and enjoy.
I love riding while the sun goes down, especially after not riding for six weeks.

Before this ride I’ve been pretty much taking a break after knocking over my last TBAM issue as editor, which has been well overdue. I’ve really enjoyed not having the editor deadline over my head every time I wake. It’s given me a chance to exercise more and enjoy the simple things I’ve always been too busy to do, like spend a week on my 5 acre property pulling out Lantana, camping by the fire every night, and just kicking back staring at the stars. I’ve also seen a few bands, which you might have noticed under the new section called Random in pics. I also spent a weekend with a local 15-year-old skate board grommet and his mates to take some pics. His name is Blake Harris and he rips. He’s already pulling off solid tricks down 12 stairs and the way he’s heading should be appearing in skate mags like Slam real soon. I’ve loaded a few more stories from my archives, plus added a My Favs section in Pics that I’ll add to as time goes by. Five years of images and stories takes a lot of time to sort through and upload – well it does for me anyway. End of next week I’m taking off for 10 days on KTMs 990 Adventure to join the Wild Boar ride, which will see 50 riders blast through the Outback, camping as we go, which is going to be a lot of fun and should provide many laughs. All up I’ll be covering at least 3000km so by the time I return my butt will be sore I imagine. I’m sure I’ll have many great stories to tell and great photos to show. I’ll throw some up on my return, but until then have fun in what adventures you guys have coming up ay, cheers Goba.

I.T. Jake enjoyed every second of the ride away from his office packed full of computers and wires and s#$t.

This hill is a whole lot steeper than it looks, trust me! And I’m not even half way yet.

Saturday nights feed and company at the local was great, as always!
The Mitsi van we hired after mine broke down was packed to the hilt, but it did the job!

Blake again, this time ruling at Kingscliffe High.
Blake’s good mate Happy – I love this shot. |
